AYJ appoints Dr Poppy Harrison as Chair of the Board of Trustees

We are delighted to announce that Dr Poppy Harrison will be joining the Alliance for Youth Justice (AYJ) as our new Chair of the Board of Trustees.

Poppy’s appointment comes at an important time for the AYJ as we prepare to launch our new strategic approach. She will be formally declared at our Annual General Meeting on 16 July, where we will also thank our outgoing Chair, Lesley Tregear, for her incredible leadership.

Reflecting on her time as Chair of the AYJ, Lesley said:

Working with the AYJ and formerly the Standing Committee for Youth Justice has been both rewarding and challenging. I have been privileged to work with trustees who have been equally committed to improving the lives and opportunities for children in contact with the law and I am delighted that the incoming chair, Poppy Harrison, who many of our members will know, will be equally committed to progressing the work of the AYJ further.“

Poppy brings a wealth of experience and expertise in children's and young people's services, leadership and systems change to guide the AYJ as we enter our next phase.

Commenting on her appointment Poppy said:

AYJ’s work bringing together expert organisations to advocate for better lives for children is as important now as it has ever been. I care deeply about this work and am therefore honoured to be joining the board of trustees. I will be working hard to play my part in supporting our amazing CEO Jess Mullen and will strive to uphold the inspiring legacy of Lesley Tregear, our outgoing Chair, as the AYJ continues to deliver on its mission to drive positive change in youth justice.
