PARTNERSHIPS

Partnership is at the heart of everything the we do. As an alliance, we bring together the expertise of a broad and diverse range of organisations and individuals, and pursue collaborative partnerships in line with our objectives.

AYJ supports collaborative initiatives, partnerships and coalitions aiming to influence change in line with our objectives. We work with cross-sector partners on joint projects for the benefit of children and young people. We are an active steering group member of the first ever collaborative campaign to End Child Imprisonment in England and Wales, and have recently worked with a cross-sector Working Party on Racial Disparity in Youth Justice. We previously worked with the Special Educational Needs (SEN) Consortium to successfully lobby for changes to SEN provision in custody.

None of our work would be possible without the generous support of our funders, through grant-making to support our core team’s capacity and for specific projects. The AYJ considers our funders to be valuable strategic partners - we are grateful for their investment in our work to develop a vibrant network for our members and drive positive change.

AYJ can act as a conduit between funders and our members, identifying cross-cutting emerging issues and potential solutions from a variety of different organisational perspectives. We have recently advised Children in Need on the design of their programme to address violence impacting young people and the Youth Endowment Fund on their Evidence and Gap Map of what works to keep children safe from involvement in violence.
