VACANCIES
Membership Administration Intern
We are seeking a paid Membership Administration Intern to work with us to support our members across the youth justice sector.
This role focuses on supporting our membership processes, including helping to manage invoicing and maintaining accurate records. Alongside this, the intern will work on a short project to help us build a clearer picture of our membership, including mapping where organisations are based and improving how we understand and engage with our members.
This is a structured role with clear tasks and support. It would suit someone who is organised, reliable, and looking for a first step into this kind of work.
Who this role is for
We particularly welcome applications from people with personal experience of the youth justice system (this could include policing and arrest, youth offending services, courts, custody, or alternative interventions). This refers to personal experience of the system, rather than professional experience working in youth justice.
We are also keen to hear from people who may not have followed a traditional education or career path, including those at an early stage in their working life.
What you will do
Support the creation and distribution of membership invoices
Follow up with members regarding invoices and payments
Maintain accurate records of member organisations
Help to create a version of our membership database that can be shared with members to support collaboration
Contribute to developing summaries of members’ work and areas of focus
There will also be opportunities to attend member meetings, visit organisations, and observe wider aspects of AYJ’s work
Role details
2 days (14 hours) per week for 3 months, or 3 days (21 hours) per week for 2 months
Salary: £14.80 per hour (London Living Wage)
Start date: Tuesday 5 May 2026
Interviews will take place on Thursday 16 April and Friday 17 April
Location: Hybrid, with one day per week in person in London
The role will be supported by the Communications and Engagement Manager
Equity and inclusion
As an organisation committed to anti-oppressive practice and anti-racism, we recognise that opportunities like this are not equally accessible to everyone. We are particularly keen to hear from people who have been underrepresented or overlooked in similar roles, including those from racially minoritised backgrounds, working-class backgrounds, and those with personal experience of the youth justice system. We recognise that historically marginalised groups may choose not to apply for a role they could be brilliant for because they don’t see themselves in every single element of the person specification. If you are interested in applying but aren’t sure that you have all of the skills and experience listed, please do still apply.
